All Kinds of Minds Offers Schools A FREE Day of Follow-Up Instruction – Expands Capabilities of Teachers and Increases Success for All Students

DURHAM, N.C. – June 25, 2009 -- Responding to the urgent need to stem the chronic underperformance of too many elementary and secondary students, All Kinds of Minds, a world-recognized nonprofit institute, today announced that it will offer a free day of follow-up instruction to any school that holds either a 5-day (Schools Attuned to All Kinds of Minds) or a 3-day (Teaching All Kinds of Minds) course.

In a time of dramatic school budget cuts, this offer (valued at $5,000 USD) offers schools an excellent opportunity to stretch their limited professional development dollars and expand the capabilities of their teachers.

All Kinds of Minds integrates research on the brain, cognition and learning into groundbreaking programs for K-12 educators. Educators who experience an All Kinds of Minds program develop skills to identify strengths and breakdowns in student learning. They learn to more effectively select strategies to leverage strengths and overcome barriers to learning. Plus these courses provide educators with tools and activities for next day classroom use; teachers are able to test these new ideas immediately where they truly matter—in the classroom.

Schools must book their course by August 31, 2009, and hold their course between October 1, 2009, and April 1, 2010, to take advantage of this offer. To learn more about this offer, click here.

"Helping teachers and schools meet the expectation that every student should be successful is central to our mission,” said Mary-Dean Barringer, Chief Executive Officer of All Kinds of Minds. “The demand for teacher training based on the science of learning is growing. Our programs help schools build teacher effectiveness with students and increase student achievement and engagement. All at a great value."

Professional Development for Every Educator

Our programs offer:
  • The tools to build understanding of learning and its variations.
  • New ways to increase sense of efficacy among teachers as they work with diverse learners.
  • A common language about learners and learning which allows conversations about student learning challenges to move beyond labeling.
  • Strategies that leverage student strengths and interests while addressing weakness to help educators manage learning differences.
  • Strategies and resources for immediate classroom use
  • Case studies and activities to demonstrate how to observe and describe students’ learning profiles and implement targeted solutions.

All Kinds of Minds Courses

5-Day: Schools Attuned to All Kinds of Minds

Participants in this intensive program learn about the eight neurodevelopment constructs and explore how to use this knowledge to pinpoint and address learning breakdowns. Cohorts of educators who participate in the course gain knowledge to help them build a “learning expertise” team within their school. Two different tracks address implementation at the elementary and secondary school levels.

3-Day: Teaching All Kinds of Minds

Our three-day course illustrates how strengths and weaknesses within various areas of brain function affect student performance and provides next-day activities and tools for classroom implementation. Participants also become more aware of their own learning styles and how those styles influence their efficacy with different learners. Appropriate for grades K-12; curriculum is suited to mixed grade level groupings.

1-Day “Exploring level” workshop: Understanding Learning and Learners

This workshop introduces participants to All Kinds of Minds’ approach to helping educators understand how students learn and how this knowledge can help teachers more effectively manage diverse learning needs among their students.

Graduates of either the three-day course or the classic five-day course can also select from more than a dozen modules included in the new Tools for Learning Success Catalog. Designed to help educators and schools deepen and implement their knowledge about the science of learning and its applications, these modules address such topics as lesson analysis and parent engagement in student learning.
